WITH WHICH DEVICES IS AVENTHO WIRELESS COMPATIBLE?

You can connect Aventho wireless to any smartphone or tablet that supports

Bluetooth Version 2.1. and above.

The following features are required for connection to laptop or desktop computers:

  • For audio playback: support for Bluetooth A2DP and AVRCP profiles

  • Headset with microphone function: support for Bluetooth HFP profile

HOW DOES THE PERSONALISED SOUND PROFILE FEATURE

IN MIY APP WORK?

Experience music in rich detail even at a lower volume or with ambient noise – so how is that possible?

We have developed a wireless headphone with integrated measurement technology in cooperation with Mimi Hearing Technologies GmbH, which offers listeners the best possible individual sound regardless of the source.

 

The SOUND PROFILE and Mimi's sound personalisation are the outcome of years of ongoing scientific research and patent-pending technologies which combined form the largest database on hearing worldwide. By the use of latest DSP technology (digital sound processing) in Aventho wireless a substantially enhanced functional range is allowed, which – in combination with Mimi’s technology – is not comparable any more with conventional equalizers.


The beyerdynamic MIY App (iOS and Android) plays a series of test tones over the Aventho wireless with different tone pitch and volume – separately in each case for left and right ear. The app utilises user controls to determine which tones are heard how loudly and from this generates the unique personal hearing profile – the SOUND PROFILE.

Mimi's technology simulates the signal processing, which happens in the human ear (especially within the Cochlea). In doing so, some information is emphasized in order to support the brain with discerning between different sound elements and processing those. Instead of adapting volume in a frequency-selective way, Mimi's sound personalisation replicates processes within the human ear, which decrease naturally over time and ensures a clear, full and high-contrast sound.

These sound portions can be regulated and intensified as required via the MIY App so that music can be experienced in rich detail even at a very low volume or with ambient noise.

 The measured values of the SOUND PROFILE are transmitted from the MIY App to Aventho wireless and stored permanently in the headphone*. The headphone is now personalised and the personal sound is available as a result with every Bluetooth playback device used.

 

* Later creation and storage if a new SOUND PROFILE is of course possible without difficulty.
By doing so existing SOUND PROFILE is then overwritten.

WHICH AUDIO SOURCES DO I NEED TO USE THE SOUND PROFILE?

The beyerdynamic MIY App is required first of all to create the personalised SOUND PROFILE and store it permanently in Aventho wireless.

The SOUND PROFILE is then available for any audio sources that are connected via Buetooth to Aventho wireless.

 Aventho wireless can be connected in multi-point mode (see operating instructions) to a number of Bluetooth devices. The SOUND PROFILE can therefore be controlled via the smartphone and MIY App and the music listened to at the same time from a different Bluetooth audio device.

 Note: When the headphone cable supplied is connected (e.g. when the battery is empty), the integrated signal processor that processes the SOUND PROFILE deactivates. Aventho wireless operates in this case as a conventional headphone without the SOUND PROFILE. The SOUND PROFILE is activated again automatically the next time the Bluetooth connection is enabled.

HOW DOES THE PERSONALISED TRACKING FEATURE IN MIY APP WORK?

Enjoy music and healthy listening at the same time – how does that work?

Aventho wireless is fitted with the patented beyerdynamic EarPatron technology, which provides insight into daily listening habits.

Loud listening for a short time is possible in just the same way as quiet listening for a longer period.

 

The headphone measures the period of listening at a specific volume and stores this measured value continuously. The measurement is taken for any and all audio sources that are connected to Aventho wireless via Bluetooth.

It is immaterial whether the headphone is switched off in between or connected to a different Bluetooth source.

The total daily portion of music can be retrieved from the headphone and visualised using the TRACKING feature in MIY App. MIY App indicates the portion of music as a percentage and gives recommendations for healthy listening habits.

WHICH AUDIO SOURCES DO I NEED TO USE THE TRACKING FEATURE?

The TRACKING feature is available for any audio sources that are connected via Buetooth to Aventho wireless.

beyerdynamic's MIY App is only required to indicate the personal listening pattern with the TRACKING feature and make recommendations for healthy listening.

Aventho wireless can be connected in multi-point mode (see operating instructions) to a number of Bluetooth devices. The TRACKING feature can therefore be displayed via the smartphone and MIY App and the music listened to at the same time from a different Bluetooth audio device.

Note: When the headphone cable supplied is connected (e.g. when the battery is empty), the integrated signal processor that processes the TRACKING feature deactivates. Aventho wireless operates in this case as a conventional headphone without TRACKING. TRACKING is activated again automatically the next time the Bluetooth connection is enabled.

WHICH ANDROID VERSIONS SUPPORT THE FUNCTIONS OF THE MIY APP?

Note for Android users:

This MIY version includes the Quick Setup with sound personalisation based on statistical data. This way, you can discover a completely new sound experience, giving you a foretaste of the full personalisation.

Currently, we offer the following version in the Google Play Store:

  • MIY app for Android 7 including sound personalization based on statistical data, tracking of personal hearing habits, settings of the touch pad

 

With the future optimized version, the hearing test of 6 minutes will be implemented in order for you to create your personal sound profile and save it onto the headphones. The update of the MIY app can be downloaded easily on your smartphone once it is available.

End of January 2018 at the latest, the MIY app will be available for Android 6 and 8 in the Google Play Store and support all app versions in their full range of functions regarding the individual hearing test.

CAN THE INTEGRATED RECHARGEABLE BATTERY IN AVENTHO WIRELESS BE REPLACED?

Aventho wireless is sustainably designed, so that when the integrated rechargeable battery needs to be replaced, this can be done by qualified service personnel. Should this be necessary, please contact our service department.

CAN I ALSO USE AVENTHO WIRELESS FOR PHONE CALLS?

Yes, thanks to the integrated Touchpad remote control with microphone, you can also answer calls with Aventho wireless.

You can also talk to people on Skype or use the headset for FaceTime on smartphones that support the HFP (= Hands Free Protocol) protocol.

WHAT DO I NEED TO LOOK OUT FOR TO ENSURE THE BEST WIRELESS SOUND QUALITY

WITH AVENTHO WIRELESS?

Make sure that your playback device also supports an audio codec over and above the SBC codec implemented as standard.

Aventho wireless supports the Qualcomm® aptX™ HD, Qualcomm® aptX™ and AAC codecs.

The particular codecs your playback device supports can be found in the data sheet for the respective playback device, with high-quality Android devices typically supporting Qualcomm® aptX™ and Apple devices, on the other hand, AAC. (All support SBC.)

The playback device and Aventho wireless always communicate automatically based on the highest-quality codec available.

Moreover, we recommend always leaving the volume on the playback device set to the highest level and simply adjusting the actual playback volume on the headset.

WHAT CAN BE DONE IF THE BLUETOOTH CONNECTION FAILS?

The connection between the playback device and the Bluetooth headset can be lost on occasion if:

  • An audio signal is no longer being transmitted from the playback device to the headset (headset is mute)

  • A microphone signal is no longer being transmitted from the headset to the playback device or

  • Remote control signals are no longer being transmitted from the headset to the playback device.

 

There are a number of reasons for this:

 

WLAN router or repeater

Because the router and repeater send in the same frequency band that is also used by Bluetooth, strong WLAN signals (incl. those from neighbouring apartments) can restrict the connection security and thus lead to the connection being lost.

Microwave devices

Microwave ovens used for heating food can also have a negative impact on the connection security.

 

Objects that contain water

Because Bluetooth signals can be attenuated intensely by objects that contain water, this can likewise lead to connection losses. The most frequent object in this sense is the human body itself.

 

Large reinforced concrete or metal surfaces

Reinforced concrete or metal surfaces can reflect Bluetooth signals. This can restrict the signal quality in a room with lots of large surface areas and result in connection losses.

 

Practical tips

  1. If you are using WLAN routers and repeaters in your vicinity, switch these off for test purposes. If the WLAN signals are coming from the environment (e.g. from neighbouring apartments), increase the distance to the interfering sources.

  2. Check if use of a microwave oven is causing the connection losses and increase the distance to the appliance if necessary.

  3. Remove the playback device and headset from the vicinity of large reinforced concrete or metal surfaces. If the playback device is lying on a metal surface, for example a metal table, simply turning the table – depending on the side the playback device is on – can help.

  4. If the connection line between the headset and the playback device is interrupted by body parts, try to move the playback device if possible to the right hand side of the body, since the Bluetooth receiver is located in the right-hand housing shell of the headset.

In some cases it can also help to reset to the default settings (see operating instructions) and disconnect the headset from the playback device and then connect it again.
